On the Occasion of the Announcement of the Grand Layout (Board of Trustees' Draft Plan)

From the Secretariat for Programming of Long-range Planning (May 30th, 2001)

The Board of Trustees of Jochi Gakuin School Corporation deliberated on and recognized the "Grand Layout (Board of Trustees' Drafts Plan)" on May 29th, 2001. The "Grand Layout" is a basic direction of the growth and maturation of "a world-class university" in view of the upcoming 100th anniversary of Sophia University.

The Interim Report of "Grand Layout" was distributed to the Faculty and Staff on January 17th, and the Second Interim Report was distributed on April 26th. The same contents were announced to the students and the public in the Jochi Daigaku Tsushin and the University's home page ( https://www.sophia.ac.jp/ ). In response to the request for frank opinions, requests, and proposals from inside and outside the University, valuable opinions and numerous requests and proposals have been submitted by over 150 individuals and organizational units (such as Undergraduate Faculties and Graduate Divisions) by the latter part of May.

The Expanded Long-Range Planning Committee and the various Specialized Study Subcommittees, based on the Board of Trustees' Draft Plan, will deliberate and examine the various topics for consideration in order of priority, and with short-, medium-, and long-term distinctions, and will make the New Hoffmann Plan, as a final implementing decisions. Following the procedures of the Jochi Gakuin School Corporation, the New Hoffmann Plan will start, possibly as early as the beginning of 2002. We aim to realize the resulting New Hoffman Plan (implementation plan) as we advance toward the 100th anniversary of the University's founding in 2013. We would announce the process of deliberation and examination in the committees, and would make an opportunity to submit frank opinions, requests, and proposals from inside and outside the University.
